Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3- Powering Flagship Android Phones with Next-Level Features

Qualcomm made waves on Monday with the launch of the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 platform, tailor-made for flagship Android smartphones. Acting as a streamlined version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which dominates the flagship Android market, this new system-on-chip (SoC) promises a host of cutting-edge capabilities.

The U.S.-based tech giant boasts that the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 can handle on-device generative AI (Gen AI) functions, support Wi-Fi 7, deliver HD sound complete with spatial audio and head tracking, and elevate mobile gaming performance to new heights.

What’s more, Qualcomm reveals that the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is primed to support over 30 large language models (LLM), including heavy hitters like Baichuan-7B, Llama 2, and Gemini Nano.

The real showstopper? Qualcomm claims that their latest SoC can effortlessly create original content from various inputs be it spoken words, written text, or image prompts—thanks to its on-device Gen AI assistance. With a camera resolution capability of up to 200MP and a dazzling display refresh rate of 144Hz, this chip is poised to redefine smartphone photography and visual experiences.

Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi is set to take the lead by launching the first device powered by Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 in March, confirming the platform’s imminent arrival in the market. Following suit, Honor, iQOO, and Realme will soon roll out their own smartphones equipped with this groundbreaking mobile platform.

Chris Patrick, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Mobile Handsets at Qualcomm, sums it up best ”With capabilities including on-device generative AI and advanced photography features, Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is designed to enhance user experiences, fostering creativity and productivity in their daily lives.”
